Precisely (pic) the journey that all of us have to take – alone, regardless of our wish, pleasant or unpleasant. But, there is a hope that it will be worthy. Not sure where the hope comes from, because the end is unknown and for some reason, we continue believing.
The mind creates hope (some say its the heart), but hope for what? It is seeking for the better, something exciting, big and different, which the wise call as delusion or maya. So does it mean the present isn’t good? It is, but the mind and soul is restless and is seeking higher bliss, unknown to the naive soul, inexpressible and hence we chase experiences, making the present not complete.
The seeking is there in all of us, some are sincere, some dormant and many I see are neither. For many, seeking happens unknowingly, it may express itself through different dimensions of life such as profession, family, relationships, service and interaction. So becoming aware that seeking is through experiences could be a stepping stone to evolving and realising the full potential of human capabilities.
It has been an exciting journey, sometimes a walk in the park, sometimes rough but definitely evolving. The risk of unknown makes the learning hard and a bit of sorrow brings depth. Exploring oneself, willingly, could bring wonders to life, may open up new dimensions that we wouldn’t have thought of. The hidden skills start surfacing that will aid in this beautiful journey. I love this pic which so closely resonates with my inner journey.
One can train the mind to be in the present however, the problem is more subtle, its how we deal with our intellect, memory, and ego complexes! Which is why we are taught to seek inwards and more the mind is established in the self, greater is the clarity and more chances of tapping into the skills hidden in the ‘self’.
Working on ourselves, often starts with the mind and body, but is not easy. The mind is so subtle and yet powerful that it works like a photographic plate and captures everything that it sees, hears, touches and tastes through the senses and is self-deceiving. So, don’t be stuck to logic, or proof because anything that be proved, can be disproved.
Looking inwards is so precious and is a time tested technique to burn the seed of negativity and actions that follow it. But, what is looking inwards? Is it being aware of our body, thoughts, emotions? Is it being a witness? This is a fascinating topic for me! Even saying that ‘I am self aware’ has many dimensions and people project their own meaning to being self aware, mindful and spiritual. Breath is a powerful tool to start your inner journey and trust me it works!
Nowadays, being spiritual is a fashion statement and people take pride is saying ‘I am spiritual’. It will be interesting to see how these spiritual souls live their daily lives!! It could be a fleeting thought, a desire, or an impression from the memory. The first step is to be aware of what is happening to us – the thoughts we get, the emotions that arise, the sensations in the body, being aware is just being a witness, no analysis or judgements. Just being ‘aware’ which is synonym to letting go!! Just let go and have the courage to take the plunge to the inner world.
